first off...Glass really wouldn't protect the crab against UV rays....well it really depends on the strength of the light...the crab wouldn't be a happy guy at the end of the day...plus most hermit crabs are pets....and this one i'm sure is....wild hermit crabs arn't going to be walking along and go "hey thats a nice glass shell that nature just randomly made for me to live in i think i'll take it..." NO! and have you seen how ugly those paintings are on the shells at the store....yuck...i really don't think the crabs care...and P.S. the paint in the shells at the store probably contain lead...so tell an animal rights activist to bitch about that.
